Guidelines for School Attendance
There is a direct relationship between health and learning. If a student is sick, their ability to learn is greatly decreased. Students exhibiting the following symptoms may be sent home and/or should stay home if they have any of the following:
Temperature of 100 degrees or greater
Vomiting with associated signs of illness
Uncontrolled diarrhea
A concerning health condition that may require further medical evaluation.
Before returning to school a student must be fever-free 24 hours without any fever-reducing medication or any vomiting or diarrhea.
To decrease the spread of illness, children being sent home need to be picked up quickly. It is recommended that someone on your student’s contact list be available to pick up a sick student within 15 minutes. It is very important that the school has a current working phone number for parent/guardian contact.
Please refer to Walt Disney Elementary or Middle School/High School Student Handbooks under Health Services for further information or contact your school nurse.
