Assembly

November 11, 2022

Dear Marceline R-V Community,

It is a busy time of the year, so I am back for another community update.

News/Updates:

Happy Veteran’s Day

I want to personally thank all of the local Veterans and beyond for their selfless service to this country. I also want to specifically thank Richard Warner for giving a great speech at our Veteran's Day Assembly today. No amount of words can express my gratitude to our Veterans.

I would also like to thank and commend Mrs. Ewigman and our HS Student Council for organizing a great Veteran’s Day Assembly. Last but not least, thank you to Mr. Christy and our choir and band for their honorable performances during the assembly.

Food Service Update

I want to thank our kitchen staff and subs as well as the OPAA! staff for working so hard to provide such great meal options for the students. Since the addition of more food options and the salad/fruit bar, our meal participation rates have climbed. It has required a lot of hard work from many people to make this transition as successful as it has been and I am thankful for each of their efforts.

Momberg Math and Science Competition

Congratulations to our students that competed in the Momberg Math and Science Competition at CMU. A special congratulations to Will Krumpleman, Lance O’Dell, and Ruth Shackleford who placed first out of sixteen teams, which awarded each a $1,000 scholarship to CMU should they choose to attend college there.

FBLA Enterprise Day and National Fall Leadership Conference

On Wednesday, our FBLA celebrated American Enterprise Day. This was a day that benefitted the students greatly and I want to thank Mrs. Evans for organizing such a meaningful event for them. I would also like to thank the following businesses within the community for their time and support in this endeavor:  Moore Fans, Walsworth Publishing, All-State Consultants, and Linn County 911 Central Dispatch. I was a judge for the local business presentations by the students and I was very impressed with what they created in such a short amount of time.

Some of our FBLA students will be attending the National Fall Leadership Conference and I hope they have a great experience that allows them to make memories that will last a lifetime.

Back-to-Back State Champions

I want to congratulate our Lady Tiger Softball Team for their Class 2 State Championship. As most know, this made them back-to-back state champions. This accomplishment is so rare and difficult to accomplish that it’s important that we step back and appreciate it. What I saw on those fields in Springfield is something I will never forget.

MS Sports

Basketball - Congrats to our MS Lady Tigers who earned second place in the LCC Conference Tournament. Also Congrats to our MS Tigers who earned fourth place in the LCC Conference Tournament. The basketball teams will compete again next Thursday at Cairo.

Wrestling - The MS Wrestling season is underway. They had one competition this week on Tuesday at home and will compete three times next week. Please check the school calendar for details.

Fall Awards Night

The MHS Fall Sports Awards Night will be on Tuesday, 11/15 at 6:00 p.m. in the Field House.

Like any other day, I am thankful to be a Marceline Tiger!

Respectfully,

Dr. Zach Bruner, Superintendent
